Amy is a SoCal native who attended UC Irvine, Cal State Northridge, and USC School of Medicine. She worked in the cancer diagnostics field for over 25 years. Amy’s research focused on the detection of low numbers of tumor cells in the circulation of cancer patients as a means of targeting early relapse. With over 75 scientific publications and 3 US patents, she served as Senior Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Nexell Therapeutics and an Associate Biologist at the California Institute of Technology. As one
of the founding members of the USC Lambda LGBT Alumni Association in 1992, she was also a founding member of the National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals.. At USC, Amy served as President of the Alumni Association Board of Governors from 2014-2015. She was elected to the USC Board of Trustees in 2015 and to the USC Health Systems Board in 2021, where she was named vice chair in 2023. She also serves as a Director on the USC Arcadia Hospital Board and as member of the USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation Board. Dr. Ross is a Trojan through and through (fight on!) and has spent almost 10 years on the USC Board of Trustees, witnessing big changes on how the top leadership of the premier research university in Southern California was impacted by recent challenges and being part of the improvements that have been made in recent years to management and health systems.
