On March 14, we are presenting a panel featuring the Los Angeles City Human Rights Department and the Women’s Commission. Featuring Capri Maddox who is the Executive Director of the LA Civil Rights Department and Erma Bernard-Gibson who is a Commissioner of the Women’s Commission, appointed by former Mayor Eric Garcetti. we will learn about the history, purpose, projects, and activities of each organization as well as how they operate today to deal with the various challenges related to civil and human rights.
Erma J. Bernard Gibson was appointed by Mayor Eric Garcetti to serve as a Commissioner on the Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women, where she is dedicated to promoting the welfare of women in the Los Angeles community and ensuring their full and equal participation in city government. In this role, she advises the Mayor and City Council on the needs and challenges facing women, leading efforts to investigate and address issues that adversely impact them. Alongside fellow commissioners, she recommends programs that create greater opportunities for women across the city.
Committed to gender equity, Erma actively liaises with community groups to identify and remove barriers that hinder women’s full potential.
The City Club maintains a dress code.
Attire can certainly elevate or diminish the experience of others. They consider ball caps or beanies, tank tops, flip flops, distressed denim, shorts, team athletic attire, and t-shirts with no jacket as too casual for City Club LA. Their staff takes pride in their appearance, so they ask their members and their guests to respect their dress code at all times.
