LA5 Peace Committee is pleased to present the film Far East Deep South, coinciding with and celebrating Chinese New Year. The film illuminates how perhaps unexpected cultures mixed in America’s deep South over the years. Charles Chiu & family travel from California to Mississippi to visit his father’s grave. While there, they learn about the racially complex history of Chinese immigrants in the segregated South, and discover their deep American roots, and the many contributions of Chinese Americans in the Deep South.
