Fritz Coleman, a five-time Emmy Award-winning stand-up comedian and former NBC weathercaster, has shared the stage with legends across the United States, opening for icons like Ray Charles, Debbie Reynolds, Jay Leno, George Benson, and the band America, to name just a few. He made eight memorable appearances on The Tonight Show with both Johnny Carson and Jay Leno. After 40 years as NBC Los Angeles's trusted weathercaster, Fritz retired in 2020 and is now back in the spotlight with his new comedy special, Unassisted Living, available on Tubi. His award-winning special It’s Me, Dadbecame a staple of KCET’s Father’s Day programming, delighting audiences year after year.
Inspired by comedy legends Johnny Carson, Bob Hope, and Robert Klein, Fritz knew he wanted to be on TV making people laugh. His journey took a defining turn in high school when his uncle gave him tickets to see George Carlin live. This wasn’t the brief five-minute stand-up you’d catch on Carson or Merv Griffin—this was 90 minutes of Carlin commanding a packed stage, wielding the microphone like an extension of himself, captivating 3,000 mesmerized fans. For Fritz, it was an eye-opening, almost spiritual experience, revealing the profound connection one performer could create with an audience.

The City Club maintains a dress code.
Attire can certainly elevate or diminish the experience of others. They consider ball caps or beanies, tank tops, flip flops, distressed denim, shorts, team athletic attire, and t-shirts with no jacket as too casual for City Club LA. Their staff takes pride in their appearance, so they ask their members and their guests to respect their dress code at all times.
