Gary was born in Iowa, grew up in Indiana, and attended law school in Illinois.

But he grew tired of living in states that begin with the letter “I,” so after law school he moved to Los Angeles and it’s been his home ever since.  Gary began his legal career at the law firm O’Melveny & Myers. Later he formed his own firm in Santa Monica, where he specialized in business litigation. 

He also co-founded a biotech company in La Jolla, where Gary currently serves as a director and corporate officer.
