Marisol

Dear LA5 Rotary Club,

Thank you very much for your support this year. I was able to purchase my textbooks and additional school supplies with your help! This past year was a rollercoaster with school online in the first half of the year and then transitioning to in-person when I started again in the fall. It has been so exciting to be on campus for the first time and meet a myriad of people with unique passions, accomplishments, and dreams. Stanford’s environment motivates me both as a scholar and athlete to continue to pursue my goals.

This past quarter I decided to major in Bioengineering as it is a hands-on, innovative field that combines my love of biology and medicine with machines and technology. I can’t wait to delve into this field of study and take the bioengineering core classes (I am still working my way through the prerequisite classes).

I have also been balancing school with judo. This past year I won three Junior National Championships and was on the US Junior World Team. I competed at the Junior World Championships in Italy, winning my first round but unfortunately losing in my second round in overtime to the girl who took third. In a few days, I leave for Spain for two weeks to train at their Olympic training center.

I am excited for what 2022 has in store and am grateful for your generosity and support.

Happy New Years!

Warm Regards,

Marisol
