Visiting the Titanic in the Titan

Visiting the Titanic in the Titan

In June 2023, the world watched in stunned silence as the submersible Titan vanished during a dive to the wreckage of the RMS Titanic. Days later, the news broke: the experimental submersible vessel had suffered a catastrophic implosion, instantly claiming the lives of all five aboard. It was a stark reminder of the immense risks involved in exploring the crushing depths of the ocean—some 12,500 feet (nearly 2.4 miles) below the surface.

In July 2021, adventurer Bill Price stepped aboard the Titan for its historic inaugural mission to the Titanic. Alongside OceanGate founder Stockton Rush and a small team, he participated in one of the first successful descents to the legendary wreck.

Despite formidable challenges—including a harrowing earlier attempt where the submersible became stranded on the seafloor for hours before a tense return to the surface—Bill became one of the very first people in modern history to lay eyes on the Titanic’s iconic bow from inside the innovative carbon-fiber and titanium craft. Suspended in the inky blackness, illuminated only by the sub’s lights, he witnessed a sight few have ever seen: the massive, ghostly remains of the “unsinkable” ship resting silently on the Atlantic floor.

Following the 2023 tragedy, Bill’s unique perspective made him a sought-after voice in the media. He was interviewed by the Los Angeles Times, where he openly discussed his “survivor’s guilt” and respect for those lost.  He appeared on major television networks, and featured in the 2025 Netflix documentary Titan: The OceanGate Disaster. Now, he offers a rare, first-hand account of the triumphs, perils, and profound mysteries of deep-sea exploration.

Join us for an unforgettable presentation as Bill shares compelling stories from his OceanGate expeditions: the intense training, the engineering marvels and risks of the Titan, the awe-inspiring moments at the wreck site, and the human drama behind one of the most ambitious, and controversial, underwater ventures of our time.
